Shrek the Third

The trailer for Shrek the Third was released yesterday! Now, I found Shreks 1 and 2 to both be very funny, so I went into this trailer expecting the same. Unfortunately, the jokes of number three seem to be more potty-humor and gags than the pop-culture satire I loved so much about the first two. (My favorite joke of the Shrek franchise was in the second one, when the do a 'Cops' spoof called 'Knights'...Puss in Boots's "catnip...not mine!" was pure comedic gold!) The premise of Shrek the Third is that the King (Fiona's father) falls ill, and Shrek goes on an adventure to find the new king, someone named Arthur (I'm thinking Knights of the Round Table here...). Unfortunately, there are those, such as Prince Charming, who are trying to thwart Shrek's mission. Also, Fiona is pregnant! The plot is pretty generic, but seeing as how the film is aimed at young kids, I'm not complaining. I think this is one I'll wait for on DVD. Shrek the Third is in theaters May 18, 2007.
